“Fa la la la la la la la la…”
“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…”
These 2 famous Christmas songs keep playing in my head.
Don’t you think time really flies? It’s unbelievable that we are going to be reaching almost the end of the year 2015. How do you feel? Me? I have a mixed feeling. I feel bitter sweet as we will need to put a full stop to this year and whether we like it or not, we will move forward to a brand new year.
I just came across an article whereby the blogger mentioned that he has mild panic when he’s being reminded that he has about a few more weeks to finish up whatever he wants to do this year.
When I read that, oh no, I think I have that panicking feeling as well. There are so many things that need to be done now and I have 5 more weeks to go!
Just take a look at this gorgeous (ahem!) Christmas themed envelop letter set.
This is a simple envelope using Christmas washi tapes. I even skip the writing paper which you’ll see more pictures and details further down. It takes about 15 minutes or less to do this.
Instead of thinking we have 5 more weeks, what about being more positive that we have 20+ days to go, or even better, we have 1440 minutes a day to use multiply by the remaining days.
Do you have 15 minutes to make a Christmas themed envelop letter set that is warm, sincere and thankful? Hey, you can make a few more if you want to.
Honestly speaking, I really like the red Christmas washi tape (official name is mt Christmas Fir Tree) from mt Christmas collection 2014. Yes, I know. However, the main point here is not about using the latest products, it’s about taking action – making it and sending it.
The red or fir tree mt tape is the most expensive among all the other tapes in the same collection. Hope the pictures can show the true colors as those little green & yellow dots and stars are shining especially under lighting. If you are looking for something shiny but not too much, this is a good choice.

- 6 x 6 inches Christmas themed patterned paper
- Fir tree mt masking tape in red
- Invitation mt tape
- mt ex ribbon
- Envelope punch board
- 3D foam square (adhesive)
How to make?
The Christmas patterned paper that you see in the above pictures is from a 6×6 paper pad that I bought. The pad contains different designs and colors on one side and the other side is white. This is where I use the deco tapes to decorate. If you don’t have any patterned paper, white cardstock works fine, too.
I then use the envelope punch board to score, cut and round all 4 corners. Cut a small section from the invitation tape that said “Christmas Party” and place inside the envelope. If you prefer to write a few words, insert white paper in the middle instead.
Since I want it to be able to open/close easily, I make the Christmas tree mt tape a little longer so that it can be closed nicely. Add a button on top using a small piece of 3D foam to make it visible and also easy to lift. Well, it’s a bit hard to write in words… let the below pictures do the talking for me. 🙂
Suggestion: What To Improve?
As mentioned earlier, I skip making the writing paper/letter is because I wanted to see if I could turn it into an invitation envelope, that is – when you open, you’ll see a message inviting you to a Christmas party.
However, the text in the pictures is too small, make it bigger. Or, insert white / cream colored paper in the middle to make it stand out.
It’s not recommended to post it just like this. I’m just having fun decorating it. If I were to mail it out via post, I’d put it inside a normal envelope. Well, it could cost more due to an extra envelope; I’d rather do it this way to have peace of mind. Otherwise, deliver to the recipient by hand.
If you want to use the washi tapes to make Christmas cards, by all means go ahead!
I didn’t even use any glue stick other than the 3D foam in this mini craft project. All the washi tapes adhere beautifully. I also like to open the envelope numerous times because of the button and the adhesive is just fantastic!
